The Horror

I've been absolutely terrible at posting lately. Could it have anything to do with the fact that my clothes are getting tight and I have had two major three-day binges in the last two weeks? Or that I have not done a lick of exercise? Or that I want to lose weight without trying? Or that bariatric surgery is looking really, really good all of sudden?

Yes, I'm dragging in the healthy focus department lately. Anyone have any insight, advice, wisdom or motivation to share with me?

Anyone? Anyone?

Since you asked for advice, my advice would be to avoid bariatric mutilation ... I'm sorry ... I mean bariatric surgery.

Have you tried a strict low-carb diet?

I'm having great success with a high-fiber low-carb diet that includes lots of healthy mono-unsaturated fats from avocados, in the form of 100 calorie Wholly Guacamole snack packs.

I often eat a huge salad-like meal that includes lots of chopped celery, one guacamole snack pack, one roma tomato, one red bell pepper, and a very few chopped pecans and walnuts.

It gives me a huge meal that is easy to fix, delicious, nutritious, all natural, low in carbs, and low in calories (as long as I limit the pecans and walnuts).

I'm an obese Type 2 diabetic, and those meals are bringing down my weight and blood glucose very nicely, with no medications of any kind.

Jim--Thanks for your ideas. I've definitely been doing a low-carb diet and I liked some of your food suggestions. I'm so happy for you that things are going so well for you and the changes you are making.

I also don't really want to do bariatric surgery but that idea comes back to me every time I struggle.

I think what I'm really working on is staying motivated right now. Have any ideas for that one?

Need a partner? I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing since Hawaii. We could feed off each other (seriously, no pun intended). My resolve may not be in full resolution until after I've had some maple bars :) but I'm willing to start earlier if we need to.
